This hand-thrown sauce boat from Muchelney Pottery is as practical as it is beautiful — designed to bring ease and charm to the table. With a capacity of approximately 0.5 litres, it’s ideal for serving gravy, custard, bread sauce, or even whisking and pouring eggs for a breakfast scramble.
Measuring approximately 9cm high by 15cm wide, it sits comfortably in the hand with a generous lip and a steady base. The spout is designed for a clean, confident pour, making it just as suited to Sunday lunch as it is to simple weekday meals.
Each sauce boat is individually made and woodfired in our traditional Somerset kiln. The flame naturally marks every piece, creating subtle variations in the finish that make each one completely unique. It’s a working pot with a quiet beauty — shaped by hand, fire and tradition.
Made using lead-free glazes, it is safe for use in conventional and microwave ovens (but not on the hob) and is dishwasher safe. From custard at Christmas to gravy at Sunday lunch, it’s a hard-working classic with timeless appeal.
