This medium shallow baking dish from Muchelney Pottery is the kind of piece that earns its place in the kitchen for life. With a broad surface and gently sloping sides, it’s perfectly suited to roasted root vegetables, bubbling pasta bakes, or golden-topped gratins. Its shallow depth encourages even cooking, a crisp finish, and beautiful rustic presentation straight from the oven.
Measuring approximately 5cm high by 23.5cm wide, it’s generously sized for everyday family cooking or smaller gatherings — practical yet distinctive. Its natural, understated form brings warmth to the table, whether you’re serving midweek supper or something more special.
Each dish is hand-thrown and fired in our traditional wood kiln on site at Muchelney. The unpredictable nature of the firing process means every baking dish carries its own character — toasted by flame, shaped by heat, and completely unique.
Like all Muchelney kitchen pots, this dish is suitable for conventional and microwave ovens (though not for use on the hob), and is dishwasher safe. All glazes are lead-free. It’s oven-to-table stoneware made with care, for cooks who value tradition and quiet beauty in the everyday.
