This medium jug from Muchelney Pottery is a beautifully proportioned, hand-thrown piece designed for daily use and simple elegance. With a 1-litre capacity, it’s ideal for serving water, fruit juice, gravy or custard — and just as lovely holding a handful of wildflowers on the kitchen table.
Measuring approximately 17.5cm high by 10.5cm wide, this jug has a satisfying weight and a gentle curve that feels good in the hand. It pours steadily and cleanly, making it as practical as it is decorative — adds rustic charm to the table, shelf or worktop.
Each jug is thrown on the wheel and fired in our traditional wood kiln at Muchelney in Somerset. The passage of flame across the pot ensures that every piece is entirely unique, with natural variations in tone and texture that reflect the life of the kiln and the hand of the potter.
Dishwasher safe and made using lead-free glazes, the jug is also suitable for microwave and conventional oven use (though not on the hob). Whether used every day or brought out for the Sunday table, it’s a timeless and enduring piece of English studio pottery.
