The large jug from Muchelney Pottery is a statement piece — full of character, beautifully balanced, and deeply rooted in function. With a capacity of 1.9 litres, it’s ideal for serving water or homemade cordials at the table, and just as striking when filled with flowers and placed on a dresser or windowsill.
Measuring approximately 24.5cm high by 11.5cm wide, it has real presence without ever feeling heavy or cumbersome. The wide mouth and well-formed handle allow for an easy, confident pour, while the softly tapering neck and woodfired finish give each jug its own character.
Thrown by hand and fired in our traditional wood kiln here in Somerset, each piece is shaped by fire as much as by the potter. The flame creates subtle, organic variations across the surface of the pot meaning no two jugs are ever quite the same — each one entirely individual.
Dishwasher safe and glazed with lead-free materials, this jug is also suitable for microwave and conventional oven use (though not for the hob). Whether in daily use or taking pride of place on the table, it brings a touch of rural craft and timeless design to any setting.
