The Muchelney
Pottery Team

Muchelney Pottery was set up in 1965 by John Leach, eldest grandson of Bernard Leach. He designed, what has become, an iconic range of stoneware pots based on the simple strength of English country pottery. 2025 sees the pottery celebrating 60 years of production.

After John died in August 2021, Mark Melbourne became the sole potter at Muchelney Pottery. John’s eldest son Ben Leach took over the running of the business with help from Nick Rees’s daughter, Rachael who manages the office. The ‘pottery crew’ are continuing in the ethos of John’s designs and working practices, carrying on the rich pottery tradition he created in Muchelney.
